Looking for dog friendly patios in Canmore?
You’ll be amazed at just how many Canmore patios allow pets.
We have our usual Canmore dog friendly patios that are our go-to spots, but it wasn’t until we started writing this post that we truly realized just how many dog friendly places Canmore has to offer!
The choices of pet friendly patios range from cozy cafes, pubs, and breweries, to upscale restaurants, all with amazing mountain views.
We’ve detailed where each one is located and what type of food they offer.
And while some don’t say they’re pet friendly on their website, we contacted them to confirm that pets are indeed welcome.
So, if you’re traveling to Canmore with your pup in tow, here’s our comprehensive guide to the best dog friendly patios in town.

Canmore’s Patios That Roll Out The Welcome Mat For Pets
Before we go onto the list, I must point out that your dogs must always be on a leash in Canmore and in Banff National Park.
Dogs are only allowed off-leash in a designated off-leash dog park.
So, here’s the list:
1. The Drake Pub
Location: 909 Railway Ave, Canmore, AB T1W 1P3
Opening hours: Daily from 12pm – 2am
The dog friendly patio at The Drake has become our favorite spot to get a bite to eat with or without our dog.
The patio lawn is spacious and there’s plenty of room for your dog to stretch out by your table.
Their staff put out bowls of water for dogs on hot days and there’s never a problem getting them refilled.
Food-wise, I’ve got to say that the fish and chips and the crunchy chicken burger go down well with our teens.
As for the outdoor seating area, you’ll get some great views of the creek and mountains from here.
Aside from the good food, what we love about The Drake Pub is its proximity to the main downtown area and its lively atmosphere.
The patio is always bustling and sometimes there’s a few minutes wait for a table, but it’s worth it. And you’re dog will love just lying on the grass.
If you’re looking for somewhere to go for a night out (without the dog) I recommend coming here.
There’s often live entertainment and we always have a good night out at The Drake.
They also have pet friendly rooms available at the hotel behind the pub.
Overall, we think the Drake has the best dog-friendly patio as well as ticking all the boxes for an enjoyable dining experience.
2. Sheepdog Brewing
Location: 105 Bow Meadows Crescent Unit 112, Canmore, AB T1W 2W8
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 3pm – 9pm Saturday 1pm – 9pm Sunday 1pm – 6pm
Just a 5-minute drive from downtown is Sheepdog Brewing.
This dog-friendly (and kid-friendly) brewery is fantastic!
Not only does it have a pet friendly patio that is the perfect spot to sip on its wide selection of crafted beers, but they also have an entire main floor area where you can bring your dog inside on those not-so-good weather days.
So rain or shine, you and your pup can enjoy the great atmosphere and tasty brews that Sheepdog Brewing has to offer.
This is definitely one of the best dog friendly places to visit in Canmore.

4. Georgetown Inn + Pub
Location: 1101 Bow Valley Trail, Canmore, AB T1W 1N6
Opening hours: Sunday to Thursday – 8am – 9pm, Friday + Saturday – 8 am – 10pm
We love the Georgetown Inn + Pub which is located in the heart of Canmore. It’s a popular British-style pub that we always make sure to visit.
While the outdoor patio may not be dog-friendly, they do have several tables conveniently placed next to the railings.
This allows us to leash our dog on the other side, where we can still be just as close to her as if she were on the patio with us.
I do find it a bit odd that they offer pet-friendly rooms (I recommend staying here) but not a fully dog-friendly patio.
But, this doesn’t stop us from enjoying a great meal and a drink here, even in the cooler months as the patio is heated.
This place has become one of our favorites due to its wide variety of pub food options and the stunning views of the majestic mountains that surround the area.
You also can’t miss the bright red British telephone booth outside, so take a peek inside.
As for the food, the fish & chips here are absolutely fantastic. The portion sizes are generous, and the flavors are spot on.
While the Georgetown Inn & Pub may not offer a completely dog-friendly patio, it is still a great place to visit with your pup.
Just make sure to secure a table near the railing, and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and delicious food.
